Canada's universal and publicly funded healthcare system is decentralized and administered primarily by the country’s 10 provinces and three territories.  Each has its own plan and each receives funding from the federal government. Excluded services such as prescription drugs and dental care may be covered, in part, by the publicly funded system, by private insurance or funded out-of-pocket.  The Canadian government has primary responsibility for financing, organizing, and delivering health services and supervising providers.
