The OBA Award of Excellence in Family Law is presented annually in memory of James G. McLeod and recognizes contributions to the practice of family law including leadership, mentoring and education, precedent setting cases and outstanding advocacy. This year’s recipient, Nicole J. Tellier, has a distinguished career in family law, arguing four cases in the Supreme Court of Canada and is well known as an advocate for disadvantaged clients and victims of abuse. Some of the past recipients of the award include: Malcolm Kronby, Philip Epstein, Tom Bastedo, Martha McCarthy, The Honourable Madame Justice Carole Curtis and Professor Nicholas Bala. Helen Norris presented the award to Nicole Tellier at this year’s event, attended by over 150 practitioners.
